It was all fun and games…then 3 walls fell down that were not supposed to
I don’t know why I find this REALLY funny. Three walls fell down today because the vibrations of taking the tiles and bathtub out were too much for 100 year old plaster. I can’t fault the poor plaster! I know this is the demo phase where things will be uncovered we were not expecting. Honestly it’s a great excuse to have a glass of wine!
Tonight we went up to the house, and once I got past the drunk, yelling, screaming neighbors I am slightly overwhelmed and in awe of what our contractors did today. They are getting it done, and I’m sort of jealous of them getting to demo my house all day. What fun!
So what we lost three walls today and we’ll have to do a change order with our 203 K consultant and bank. We gained exposed brick though! I asked them to remove all the drywall off the exterior of the house in the sunroom and YIPPEE– there was brick!

Don’t worry we recycle! All our trash is going to be refurbished by our green contractor, Impact Build.

Skylight? We are thinking about a skylight but just heard someone in the area was robbed via skylight?! wow.

See that shadow, that’s Sam in our “bedroom” we were not going for opening this up…but it looks like it happened anyway. See-through bathroom?
We stopped by Rustik Tavern for some wine after seeing this and made some new friends– the owner and his fiance. They will be moving into a house 3 blocks north of us, so that made us feel better again about the neighborhood and our investment. Onward and upward!

Exposed brick is a bit tacky these days isn’t it?
Ha. I guess you’ve never been in any house in DC, ever. Very rude Carla.
